“Haunted by endless sleepless nights, where physical and mental exhaustion rein
Screaming through the streets of Sydney
Red, white and blue strobes flash, dancing and convulsing against every surface
From the Northern suburbs, south across the bridge
Opera House to the left, the little Darling to the right
Running the gauntlet across the harbour
Expediting Into the electric glow of the CBD
Jumping medium strips, running the reds and avoiding the oncoming
Night after night nauseated with sleep deprivation
As consciousness fades the rush of adrenalin awakens
Destination approaches, the trauma awaits
The thought of sleep is just a dream in REM.”
